Title: Spectral Gain Parameters Extraction With Noise Measurements In Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

Abstract: A technique to estimate semiconductor optical amplifiers gain parameters is presented based on spectral noise measurements. Theoretical results based on the extracted parameters were compared with experimental results using linear and non-linear semiconductor optical amplifiers of various lengths. The experimental data and the results produced by estimated parameters show good agreement, which validates the technique. © 2007 IEEE.
