|Title:||Treatment Of Pharmaceutic Effluents By Ozone And Heterogeneous Photocatalysis|
|Abstract:||Wastewater from pharmaceutics industries are complex and variable nature and resistant to conventional treatment processes. The use of ozone and heterogeneous photocatalysis in the treatment of two pharmaceutic effluents (F1 and F2) are attractive mainly due to the fact that both improve biodegradability. Degussa P-25 anatase form of TiO2 was used in suspension in the photocatalytic process, an ozone dosage of 14 mg L-1 was applied in a batch reactor. The experimental time for both processes was 50 minutes.The treatment efficiency was analyzed by DOC (dissolved organic carbon) and chronic toxicity reduction, by using Artemia salina. It was found that both ozone and photocalysis decrease the toxicity of the effluent in 100%. The DOC reductions of F1 and F2 were 64% and 59,5%, respectively, when submited to a photocalytics process. Using ozone, the DOC reductions were 15% and 14%, respectively. The latter not effective when compared with the photocatalysis process.|
